Kled Gaeow Wreck
The birth of a new reef

The unique atmosphere of shipwrecks
The Kled Gaeow Wreck – One of Thailand’s Most Beautiful Dive Sites
Located right in the middle of Koh Phi Phi Marine National Park, this artificial reef is home to an incredible density of fish!
You can count on our team of instructors and divemasters to guide you safely during this dive.
Good diving conditions are required to visit this wreck.
Although relatively young, the wreck attracts a huge variety of marine life: barracudas, trevallies, snappers, many juveniles, and therefore plenty of large scorpionfish and other predators.
The Kled Gaeow wreck is one of the deepest dives we offer.
It is located on a seabed of 27 meters , but most of the diving takes place on the deck, between 18 and 22 meters deep.
Although it is possible to dive to depths of up to 30 meters around Koh Phi Phi, the areas with the most fish are more likely between 5 and 20 meters deep.
Back at the port at 12:30 PM
You can plan to take an afternoon ferry to Phuket, Koh Lanta (high season), Krabi, or Ao Nang. Before heading out for your dive, you may leave your luggage at the dive club, located just 150 meters from the port.
⚠️ Remember: you must wait at least 18 hours after your last dive before flying.
What is an artificial reef?
An artificial reef is a man-made submerged structure.
Its purpose is to recreate a habitat favorable to the protection, regeneration, and production of an ecosystem or part of it—ranging from invertebrates to fish, and even certain mammals and birds.
A wreck offers countless shelters of all sizes to many species of juvenile fish, allowing them to grow in relative safety… while predators circle around.
The Kled Gaeow Wreck
-
Length: 47 meters
-
Width: 7.7 meters
The wreck is almost entirely covered by schools of snappers and fusiliers. Fish populations can multiply here and later colonize surrounding reefs.
The height of a reef also attracts pelagic species living in the water column, such as barracudas, trevallies, bonitos, and mackerels.
Located in the center of the Marine National Park, in the middle of a vast sandy area and rising 13 meters high, the Kled Gaeow wreck acts like a magnet for pelagic fauna.
Although relatively young, the wreck already concentrates a typical diversity of marine life from southwest Thailand:
-
different species of porcupinefish and pufferfish
-
scorpionfish and lionfish
-
triggerfish, groupers, moray eels
-
anemonefish, octopuses, cuttlefish
-
cleaner shrimps, nudibranchs…
