Koh Phi Phi Marine National Park

One of the most abundant fishing areas in Thailand

Map of Koh Phi Phi

Our boat goes out every morning and afternoon for a two-dive trip.

We choose the sites based on the orientation and strength of the waves and wind, as well as the different levels of the divers on the boat.

We mainly dive on the west coast of Koh Phi Phi Leh island from November to April (high season ), and on the east coast from May to October (low season).

As soon as conditions permit, we make the first dive around Bida Nok or Bida Nai .

Come explore with our team the unique biodiversity of the dive sites in Koh Phi Phi Marine National Park

We return from the morning dive trip at 12:00 PM. This allows you to plan to take an afternoon ferry to Phuket, Koh Lanta (high season), Krabi, or Ao Nang. Before going diving, you can leave your luggage at the dive club, located 150 meters from the port.

In the afternoon, we return from diving around 5:30 PM. By then, the last ferries and speedboats have already left the island.

⚠️ Remember: you must wait at least 18 hours after your last dive before flying.

What are the main purposes of a National Park?

  • A National Park is a place where efforts are made to preserve the beauty of a natural environment by protecting local biodiversity.

  • It is a place that helps to seed the surrounding environment and even more distant ecosystems. This ensures that hunting, gathering, and/or fishing remain sustainable for local populations, and to a lesser extent for more distant communities.

  • A National Park also offers travelers the opportunity to observe preserved biodiversity.

Why does the Koh Phi Phi Marine National Park host some of the most beautiful dive sites in Thailand?

In southern Thailand, bathed by the Andaman Sea, the Koh Phi Phi Marine National Park is located at the mouth of Phang Nga Bay.

Numerous rivers carry sediments that feed this bay, producing highly nutrient-rich waters.

This benefits first the mangroves that surround the entire Phang Nga Bay, and then the more distant reefs.

In addition to being protected, the Koh Phi Phi Marine National Park is therefore bathed in waters highly favorable to the development of abundant marine life.

Measures to support biodiversity development:

  • Fishing is prohibited throughout the marine national park.

  • The Kled Gaeow ship was cleaned and deliberately sunk in 2014 to create an artificial reef located one kilometer east of Koh Phi Phi Leh.

  • Access to Maya Bay has been restricted since 2018 to encourage coral reef regeneration in this bay, as well as to maintain and develop the population of blacktip reef sharks at Koh Phi Phi.

  • Artificial reefs were installed near Viking Cave in 2007 and 2014.

  • A coral nursery has been maintained for several years, and coral is regularly replanted.
