Holder of a degree in STAPS (Sciences and Techniques of Physical and Sports Activities), I worked as a sports educator in France from 1997 to 2005, teaching a wide range of sports activities to diverse audiences, but mainly to young people (ages 6–18).
Inspired by the Undersea Odyssey of the Cousteau team, I quickly developed a passion for the sea and for travel. Quite naturally, in 1999 I obtained Level 1 certification from the French Federation of Underwater Studies and Sports (FFESSM), in the Arcachon Basin.
In 2004, during a trip to Indonesia, I decided to pursue diving professionally.
In 2005, I completed Level 4 certification with the FFESSM at the federal center in Hendaye, and began working as a dive guide at the sites of Biarritz and St Jean De Luz.
I was then certified as a PADI Divemaster in 2006 in Thailand, where I stayed for the entire year guiding and enjoying the dives.
In 2007, I spent a year in Guadeloupe, where I obtained the Federal Instructor 1st Degree (FFESSM) and then the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor certification.

BLACKIE
Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) – PADI
Blackie is one of the very first scuba diving instructors in Thailand!
Graduated in Law from Ramkamhaeng University in Bangkok, he never practiced as a lawyer.
Too attached to the sea, he could never leave it behind.
In 1988, he took part in the opening of Phi Phi Scuba, one of the first dive clubs on Koh Phi Phi.
He guided dives there until 1990 as a PADI Divemaster.
He then supervised divers at Long Beach Diving for 4 years.
In 1994, he became a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
He was the 10th Thai to be certified as a scuba diving instructor!
That same year, he opened his own dive center at Long Beach:
Blackie Dive Shop
Ten years later, the tsunami swept away his boat and his dive center.
Afterwards, he joined the team at Scool Diver, his lifelong friends and the only dive club on Koh Phi Phi truly managed by Thai people.
Passionate about diving and in love with his island, he naturally became involved with PhiPhi Underwater, sharing with us his experience and his joy of living.
